im looking for a new laptop with a SDD and HDD combo because i want a medium SSD for fast booting and larger files, while the HDD holds the rest of the data. Does anyone know which laptops have a combo out there because the price of adding a 500g-1000g SSD is out of my price point(new laptop+500g SSD =$$$$).

I'm not sure why you'd want to store large files on the SSD. The SSD (for the price conscious consumer) is usually meant to contain the OS and frequently accessed files (video games, frequently used work software, etc.). I don't see any benefit to keeping large files on the SSD if you aren't going to access them.
That being said, you don't need to look for any special "combos". If you haven't chosen a laptop already, post in the WNBSIB sub section and you'll get recommendations. Once that is done, you can purchase a 128GB SSD yourself (Crucial, SanDisk, Samsung) and insert it yourself. It is not very difficult. -
As maverick said, best to post this in the what notebook should I buy section. A lot of notebooks have or can have a SSD and HDD in them. Some can even nave multiple SSDs and multiple HDDs at the same time.
I don't understand the second part, i.e. that you say you can't add a large SSD. If you can't afford a large SSD, then it won't be cheaper if built into a notebook. Or are you saying your current notebook can hold only one drive, so you would have to get a big SSD, but a new notebook could have a smaller SSD, but also have a HDD?
Either way, the other section should be better able to help you. They will need you to fill out the form in that section, so they will know your budget and preferences. -
Guy means that he can not afford single large SSD in case if he gets a notebook with only 1 drive possible.
Practically ALL laptops now can have SSD+HDD. Most of them will have mSATA slot for SSD and 1 usual 2.5" slot for HDD.
But even if you have pretty old laptop which doesn't have mSata you can always buy 2nd HDD caddy which you can put instead of optical drive. Google "2nd hdd caddy". -

All laptops are pretty much capable of it. Except perhaps old ultra portables.
