I have the same problem as OMK1980... I can access one memory slot from under my IBM R51, but to get at the other, I hafta take out the keyboard. I'm adding 512 to the existing 256.

Should the bigger chip go "closer to the motherboard"... in the slot under the keyboard, or does it matter?

    Thanks,
    Rick

It does not matter, put the 2nd memory module in the empty slot.
