which media player takes up the least RAM?
-
Good question! I have no idea, I think not easy to tell.
Funny question. what weighs more, a ton of bricks or a ton of feathers? -
they are both a ton

Players that i will use

??? maybe a ton of bricks??? just kidding... I know they are the same, I don't have ram issues so I would not know.

In terms of overhead VLC or Media Player Classic are pretty light weight. They consume like 1 meg when not playing anything. When playing something it's up to the CODEC and the media.

clearly WMP is a winner this may be du to its a microsoft software and optimized for running on windows
My favourite player the Winamp is right after the Windows MP and it didnt came as a shock
Real Player seemed to suck ressources at start up but when running it showed a decent ressource consumption
VLC showed promise when it was turned on with only 8MB of ram but when using the player it would use at least twice amount of ram as Windows MP -
There's a reason why IE7 or WMP wins against FF or VLC or MPC. They hide and spread the RAM usage in SVCHOST threads and Explorer.
WMP11 and IE7 aren't really that bad. I noticed that WMP11 is pretty fast as well as IE7 but MPC loads so much faster and FF just works well. -
which one takes up less...
