Because even the first page (probably Wikipedia) would have been enough. :)

There are clear situations where google helps and where it doesn't. If you want help in knowing some firm facts, then google is the place to be. If you want to DISCUSS something, that's what forums are for....

The problem is I cannot explain you RAID in 3 lines, this is why I posted those links and tutorials. In short, RAID is for fault tolerance and redundancy(well, not every stage), mostly in case of HDD failure. But there are different stages of RAID.

Check out this table, it should give you a brief idea even without reading all those pages:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redundant_array_of_independent_disks#Standard_levels

    <FORM action=http://www.wikipedia.org/search-redirect.php target=_blank ><INPUT name=search size=44 value="Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks"><INPUT type=hidden value=en name=language><INPUT type=submit value=" Wikipedia "></FORM>

A little more than 3 lines my friend. Give it a shot and I am sure everyone will be happy to answer questions. Just gives us a much better starting point. I hope you understand?

If we didn't make these types of posts asking the questions than google wouldn't have any results.
If I googled "what's raid" after looking through the pages I may find this exact post ;)

and yet my question can be answered in 3 lines:

(line1)Raid0: stores data "normally". Raid1: stores the same data in 2 disks (u
(line2)get half the storage but better backup).
    (line3)you welcome

so hard to do this guys instead of such fight?

But your question was "what is RAID?" You didn't ask specifically what's RAID 0 and 1, you did mention them, but that wasn't your question. Anyway, that was how I understood it.

If that is your understanding it is well incomplete. Alternating across two disks is normal? Same Data on two disks? You can do that with two disks and not use RAID. Why you gotta not believe us and want the forum shut down? Your avatar is perfect.

Explaining the benefits and drawbacks of RAID 0 could of put us dangerously close to 4 lines and I know you would not of wanted that.

    1. If I was the one wasting my time, I'd be the OP of this thread.
    2. If I posted a question here everytime I had one, instead of googling it, I'd have more posts than Chaz.

If the OP has any questions still to ask, I invite him/her to PM me to get help. If I can't answer it, I'll know who can.

I would rather not see threads go downhill like this again. So as Patrick says, thread closed still.
