I presently own an Acer Travelmate 2450 (2451wlci) which came standard with a BATBL50L4 battery which is great if you keep it plugged in but it will last 1/2 to 1 hour max
and have tried repeatedly to get a larger capacity battery. I was told a BATCL50L would work and it does with a little drawback it will not charge up. Anyone know of a battery upgrade that will work.

you sure it's not a faulty battery, i mean it should still charge..

I wish it was that simple. No the batteries are good. Problem is with Acer I have repeatedly tried to get information from their support site as to what larger capacity batteries would work with this laptop and they told me at least twice to Google for battery upgrades. Well I did and at least 10-15 sites told me a BATCL50L was a replacement for the BATBL50L4 my Travelmate 2451 came with. I just received a standalone charger for the BATCL50L and they charge up fine and the laptop works great except for the fact the Laptop refuses to recognize the battery so it will not charge in the laptop. I picked up 3 BATCL50L's real cheap $50.00 last year from a chinese distributor and just hated to give up. I eventualy found a Standalone charger and they work awesome lasting over 4 to 5 hours. When I picked up the Laptop in 2006 Acer listed 2 batteries a 4 cell Li-ion and a 6 cell Li-ion and now they tell me only the 4 cell is available which only lasts 1/2 to 3/4 hour which pretty much marries you to an AC outlet. I always thought that Laptops were supposed to give you mobility but not with an Acer I guess. There has to be a circuit on the MOBO that senses the battery but Acer could not or would no give the specs.
