Hello,
I have a dell 5547 and I need to change the wifi card but to my surprise the slot is totally alien to me, none of my old mini wifi can fit on it, please what is the name of his slot, any wifi card recommendation?
thank you.

Took a quick look with google about this for you. Can't find any info about the wifi card though (except that the performance is greatly lacking as noted by many, many people).
Contact Dell and get them to at least tell you the type of card you have and better; the type of wifi card it can accept.
Good luck. -

It's M.2 format - a new one that is supposed to replace mini PCI Express for no reason as far as I see.

Ah, M.2... the reasons to replace PCI Express are pretty clear to me, but the performance (all aspects) at this point is clearly lacking.

Intel AC-7260NGW
Intel AC-7265NGW
Killer N1525
Intel also has the AC-3160NGW but it's link speed is half (433 Mbps) that of the 3 cards I listed above which are 866.7 Mbps with AC routers that support the speed.
AC is a 5ghz band technology.
Of the 3,I find the Killer N1525 to have the best consistent link speed and highest transfer speeds on my home network.
The N1525 card is very hard to find unless you want to pay the ridiculous amount being asked on ebay.
The AC-7265NGW is a newer model than the AC-7260NGW.Last edited: Jan 7, 2015 -
The holding screw is not in the middle? This will be a tough challenge to find a replacement...
Killer 1525 should be work! -

The half moon screw cutout is the same distance from the right side edge on all the M.2 form factor wireless cards.
When the M.2 wireless card is inserted in the M.2 slot the screw cutout is lined up correctly with the hole on narrower cards like the N1525 that has the cutout off center. -
My bad then.

thanks for all the answers, I was able to find a replacement card now for my dell 5547, as you know this card (dell 1707) is very bad and dell will only replace it for another of the same model, i know its nonsense so i have no other choice but buy one INTEL 7260NGW.

If you are able,I recommend you get an AC-7265NGW instead because it's a newer model with bug fixes that the AC-7260NGW exhibits.
My AC-7260NGW had disconnect issues and no connections when resuming from Sleep Mode.
My AC-7265NGW doesn't have the issues with driver v17.13.11.5tilleroftheearth and leonardoz like this. -

One thing for sure when dealing with wireless networks is that nothing is for sure.
@ leonardoz
When you get a replacement wireless card go to the Networking and Wireless forum and make a new thread there if you need any help and assistance.
That forum is a wee bit better to post about wifi than this one -
