i was reading a post on another site saying if i take out this 2700 ram and replace it with 3200 it will boost my fsb up to 200... is this right or are the turion processors locked at 333?

is there any bad effect on doing this with a laptop

    thanks :)

Well, in the first place the Turions do not have an FSB. The memory controller being located on the cpu(rather than on the northbridge) works at the same speed as the cpu clock frequency and therefore there is no need of FSB.

The Turions(or any AMD proc available now) support memory upto DDR400(PC3200) and it wont change anything other than giving the benefits of the faster memory. It is actually better to use DD400 memory as the clock generator also works at the same speed as the memory(200MHz).

yes im well aware that there is no fsb with the amd chips , i just didnt have time to get into it, i had wanted to know because in cpuz on the first page it say fsb 200x9 for 1800, but on the mem timming page it say 166.

is that because im running on a divider, and if i threw some 3200 ram in this laptop if i would be on a 1:1 divider

also will this improve my ati express 200m where it is using the shared memory, will this improve the fps in games..

It will help with games, but you probably won't notice. But you will get better scores in benchmark programs like 3dMark.

You can also try to overclock your current memory moduls, some can even run on 200 MHz with the same latencies.

Yes, a bigger chance that it will get stolen, because of the faster memory ;)

Yes, the cpu sets the divider to adjust the memory frequency to run at 166 and will be 1/1 divider when you run the memory at 200MHz.

Regarding the improvements, you should see some benefits but dont expect to see major increase in the fps.
