well i was thinking about making my own laptop cooler like that one guy made in the accessories forum but i didn't want to use a battery charger so i was wondering if i could just take an old power supply that i have and use it to power the fans?

Yes, it should work fine. I have also attempted to build a cooler, but I always stumble into the problem of supplying power to the fans. I did think about using a power supply, but then the cooler wouldn't really be portable, and the fans would be loud. I think you can get some pretty cheap lead acid batteries, that have good capacities of about 5 AH or 7 AH and they should work for quite a while, before the fans start to slow down. Then when they are dow, just recharge them.
If you feel you can, then you may be able to modify a USB connections, as that is the best way to power them, but again, the problem is that some fans won't spin fast enough to actually move some decent air underneath the notebook. -
cool thanks for your help
