hey everyone,
Im looking to upgrade my harddrive in my HP Pavilion dv8000. I found this harddrive on newegg for very cheap and i wanted to make sure that it will work with my computer with no problems before purchasing it ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822149058) if this doesnt work, can someone direct me to another item that would work with my notebook
Thanks!!

According to information I can find the hard drive in the dv8000 is IDE or ATA-100, so this one will not work as it is SATA.

This should work. Look out for ATA-6/ATA-100/IDE. -
I found this one on Newegg as well http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148130. it is ATA 6. im assuming that will work with my computer..i dont wanna end up buying something then having to send it back the next day!

I also have a spare laptop HP Pavilion Dv8000 and recently I think my hard drive died. My OS wont boot and when I run a system diagnostic on the hard drive it runs into a Fail. #2-07. Anyways I checked the new-egg linked and it is out of stock. Are there any others? Looking for a drive that will fit and want one over 60GB. Any ideas? Also, I uncscrewed the back panel and noticed it has a slot for 2 drives. Is this just a plug and play thing with getting a new hard-drive?

Couple additional questions... Is ATA-100 backwards combatible to ATA-6 or is the number reference "the pins etc" and subsituting alternates not allowed.
will this new harddrive work in my hp pavilion...
