i have a i1300 my dad got not the best i know so we were thinking of uping the harddrive to 100gig and a nine cell battery.is it worth it. and will it void the warrenty

That should be considered a user upgradable part. Most manufacturer's will not void the warranty for that.

The hard drive should be compatable as long as you get one that meets that form factor. IE 2.5in and etc.
The battery is listed here. I just can't tell if it is 9-cell or not.

The only thing that'll do that is an extra battery or a power outlet. Reguarding the HD replacement - Dell will probably make you place the old HD back in again for servicing.
