Whether I use the update icon in the bottom task bar or through microsoft's website to install 2 updates, they stall out indefinitely after 5 seconds in initialization. Its been a week MS is still has no answer. Not much luck on google. Any thoughts?

PS I bought and installed a volume license cd of xp pro thru my university. I have complete norton security installed, but turned off pop-up and ad blocker.
