Not very well if you multitask. Also, it depends on whether your graphic card steals RAM for its use. 1GB in Vista = 512MB in XP.

i had vista basic with 1gb and it absolutely sucks. you can get away with 1gb, but 2gb will make things less stressful.

It's just about ok on 1Gb but 2 is what you really want for Vista.

I'm running vista ultimate on acer 3050 sempron 3500 with 2.5gb or ram and still feels slow, so if you don't have dual core ram wont help you that much although you will notice the difference from 512MB of ram

With my system specs in my sig below (vista business), I get a report of 56% memory usage at a minimum, even when idle. I'd imagine 1 GB memory would feel like a stop-motion movie.

I personally think Microsoft conspired with memory mfgers to create a demand for memory, thats why there is a glut of ddr2 677mhz on the market right now.

1 GB of RAM will run Windows Vista Home Premium, but not very well, especially you turn on Aero. Get 2 GB if you can afford it, to really run Aero smoothly.

Vista by design takes about 1/2 your RAM.

If you don't need superfetch then I'd advise you to turn the service off. My used RAM went from ~1380 to ~200 (total of 2048) after turn off that vial service.

I have HP 9207 which came with 1 GB Hynix ram. Hopefull of increasing performance I ordered 2X1GB 667 Mhz CRUCIAL, it did not help. Then just for the heck of it I also ordered 2X1GB 667 Mhz Patriot, result was same!!!. This is was an utter waste of money. Ditch Vista go for XP @#$%.
