    wireless hdd enclosures?

    do wireless hdd external enclosures exist?

    Well, that would basically be a NAS. Plug the NAS into your router, and you can access it wirelessly.

    THe problem is that drives need power, so even if it could transmit wireless, you will need to plug it to dc or have a dedicated battery? I think what forge suggest is a good practical solution.

    oh i shouldve added. something portable.
    maybe something with an rf receiver. it will do away with wire clutter and maybe you can keep the enclosure in your laptop bag and still access it.
    transfer rates would be slow but maybe good enough for movies and music and of course would feature an option for wired transfers.
    im not sure, but i believe i could have read something about a prototype wireless case in engadget.

    you are right. so i guess a purely wireless hdd enclosure would not be feassible atm
