I have a very, very weird problem going on. I have a cheap-o ebay wireless mouse that has a USB IR receiver (not bluetooth).

It works fine with my desktop. I plug in the receiver, push sync on the receiver, sync on the mouse, and everything works perfectly.

But the mouse/receiver doesn't make any indication that it's even connected when I plug it into my laptop's USB. I tried all the USB ports. On the desktop, a little blip comes out of the computer when it gets plugged in. nothing on the laptop. It's like the laptop doesn't even know the IR receiver is plugged in.

Both are running XP SP2. Any idea as to how to solve the problem?
