what would i need too set up a wireless network/internet in my house, it would be used mostly for gaming.

just a router, and maybe a direct link to the router at first to configure the settings if your laptop doesn't connect to it automatically

Remember, you can get a fair bit higher latencies over wireless than on a wired network, and bandwidth is more limited and subject to interference. If you're playing FPS's, that may be an issue. It's usually not with slower-paced games or games with less exacting controls. Just something to think about

--> I’ve been gaming over a wireless network for years... IMO, there isn’t much difference (non noticeable). Like bob said... all you need is a wireless router, and a wireless enabled notebook.
--> if you are looking to game on your network, i recommend looking into QoS (Quality of Service)... most routers will have this feature on their advance settings page. QoS essentially prioritizes each packet, to minimize latencies in critical applications such as VoIP and online gaming.
