I have 1g ram of G Skill pc5300. Does it matter if i replace the original memory (primary) to secondary and then put the better memory (G Skill) in place of the primary. And then moving the original ram to the secondary. Or does it not matter where they go...?

It does not matter where you put it but sequence them: Slot 1 then to Slot 2, not Slot1 and Slot 3. Although, I believe, the memory should be equvalent as in both are PC5300. Size does not matter but the other details does.

They are both 1g. But i just feel like the GSkill being the "better" "top shelf" ram should be placed in Slot 1. I only have 2 slots anyway (i have a laptop). For some reason i think the system itself uses up the Slot 1 ram before putting the second ram to work. Or do i sound stupid...?

It doesnt matter where does the RAM goes. The performance will be the same.

Nope you do not sound stupid. A valid suggestion nontheless, but as NetBrakr stated, it really does not matter.
worthwhile to move primary ram to secondary
