Be aware that the cpu you posted is an ES chip (engineering sample) which is like a BETA test chip before it is released to the public.

The x9000's installed in the M1730 are the complete versions.

I suggest you read this first before purchasing one from ebay.

Well I have asked the seller loads of questions and the multipliers are unlocked.
It's also a brand new chip so it should be ok.
    I hope

All Extreme processors have unlocked multipliers. Its your BIOS that needs to support the unlocking of the multipliers to overclock.

Also the chip is not brand new and id be careful buying from that seller

The whole point of extreme processors is the ability to overclock...

Hmm fishy. If I did buy it could you overclock in the dell bios easily?

Yeah, in the M1730 it goes upto 3.4 in the BIOS. I don't think you'll find an OEM chip that easy. Best is to get something in the $300 range, and stress-test it like hell to rule out any defects, once you get it.

I am new to this kind of thing. I'm usually a console gamer. How would I stress test it?

Check out Step #5 in this guide. You can use Orthos or Prime95.
If you buy it, stress it at every multiplier available and a couple of lower VIDs as well.
