Hi guys, I got a samsung 970 evo plus along with my new xps 13 laptop. Unfortunately, the ssd didn't come with any cables and I'm tearing my hair out trying to figure out a way to do the upgrade. To make things worse, I lost my usb-c to usb-a adapter and I am working offshore in a third world country at the moment.
My question is this. I own a samsung sd card. Is it possible to copy my windows drive to this sd card, then install my samsung evo ssd in my laptop and then boot from sd card and somehow copy the contents into the new ssd? There is software, AOMEI backup standard which I am guessing might be useful. Not sure how it all works as I have never done anything this complicated before. Any tips would be appreciated. Regards

It would probably be easiest to simply copy just your important data, documents, etc to the SD card, then cleanly reinstall Windows on the new SSD.

Do you need to do this upgrade right now? Wait when you have the tools you're familiar with if you can.
saturnotaku has the right idea. Do a clean install instead on the 970 EVO Plus.Starlight5 likes this. -
ok maybe I'll wait. Don't want to brick my new device

Do you have (or can borrow) a flash drive or external storage device? Then you can do as @saturnotaku said; copy your files to the SD card, create a Windows 10 flash drive ( https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10), install the new SSD, boot/install Windows from the flash drive, and copy your files back from the SD card.
I don't think copying the Windows folder to the SD card would work. I think there are some restrictions on SD cards, I'm not sure if it's possible to install Windows on one, and/or boot from it.
