I just bougth 4 gigs of DDR 2 ram for my girlfriends pc, she only had 512 and with ram being so cheap I figured it would be a cheap way to speed it up. My problem is it won't even run with 4 gigs in it. it starts up for a few seconds then just shuts down. I know it will only see 3.5 gigs at best but why won't it even run with the 4 gigs ?? when I took out one of the 2 gig sims it ran fine, seeing all 2 gigs installed..

    thankd for any help,

the m140 chipset only supports 2GB or ram.

Edit: let me make it more clear.
Window 32bit supports ~3.5GB of ram, but the computers mainboard only can handle 2GB tops.

example: my Desktop supports 8GB of RAM, I can put 4x4GB modules in it, but it won't load just like your gf laptop.

I would say try upgrading to the Latest BIOS, but be careful. Also, the chipset not being able to support it could be a problem.
