Hey guys quick question i need to buy a laptop that will be able to handle everything for the next 4 year 2006-2010

now i can get a decked out inspirion 1705
    2ghz (maxed)
    2gb ( maxed)
    256mb 7900 GS ( maxed)

    Around $2000.00

but I am wondering how will it be able to handle the lastest and greatest Games, Applications, and photo editing software in 2 years

    the XPS

    i can get around
    1.73ghz
    1gb ram
    256mb 7900 GS

    for $2400.00

Now i here and read that the
    CPU
    GPU
    Ram maxed out at (4gb)
    Hardrive
These are all upgradeable in the XPS , now if this holds true and time goes by parts should be cheaper in a year or two and i can upgrade this system to maxed out with under or for $500 also and it will last me the whole range or maybe even more then 4 years

What do you guys think ?

I think it goes the same for the e1705
Probably the only difference is the video card, the xps has a 7900 gtx 512mb!

You probably can buy the e1705 and upgrade the video card later after 1-2 years if they hopefully keep the same mxm standard for video card going on...

If you are only planning on getting the 7900GS now, I'd get the E1705. The two have the same motherboard and chassis, so it'll be just as easy and as possible to upgrade one machine as the other; and the same price. In two years both machines will be lagging behind a bit, no matter what.
