I have a HP Compaq Pesario V6000, however, all the info I have for it, and the model number on the bottom, say it's a v6101US. Anyways, I got this thing for free and would like to upgrade it *** far as I can. Already put 2 gigs of ram in and upgraded the HD. Now I am looking into doing the CPU.

The current CPU is AMD's mobile Sempron 3400+. The Chipset I have is NVIDIA GeForce 6150 revision A2. I have flashed to the latest firmware I could find, Version F.3D released on 11/22/07.

So I see that the Turion 64 and Athlon 64 CPU's are the same socket, "Socket S1" I know they will fit, but will they work? I have access to these CPU's for a very cheap price, so cost will not be a factor.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

If I could I'd like to put the TL-66 in there.

the difference in model # is that the v6000 is the series number where the other is the actual model number. Don't know anything about HP/Compaq CPU upgrades though.

Athlon 64 are not socket S1. They are either socket 754 or socket 939.

In your case you can theoriticaly upgrade to a Turion 64 such a s an MK36 or to a Turion X2 such as the TL60,..., TL66 and even the TL68.
I say theoriticaly because it all depends on whether the bios supports it or not. I would say that you've 70-80% chance. If I was you I would buy a TL50 or a TL52 from ebay to test. They are cheap in ebay because no one want to buy them

Wrong. Budget amd turions with half their l2 cache are called athlons on the mobile platform.
