following today's intel announcement: I understand that yonah was 32-bit while merom is 64 bit. are there any numbers for other merom advantages? (e.g., speed, efficiency temperature)?

[interestingly, I did not see notebook pre-announcements yet.]

Merom is roughly 20% faster than Yonah at the same clock speed. Its temperatures are about the same, as Merom has a 35 Watts TDP, and Yonah 31 Watts

64-Bit will give Merom no advantage this year, or for that matter next year, or maybe even after that, as 64-Bit won't be in most programs for a long time to come.
