    at the moment i have a sempron 3000+ i want to put a 3400 or 3200+

    Check with CPUz the socket of the Sempron. Someone mentioned the other day that it might be 754 as well as 939.

    HP used Skt 939 desktop cpu's in this series. So the Sempron should be upgradable to a Athlon64 upto 4000+. Dual cores from what I have heard arent supported by the BIOS and wont work.

    I am fairly certain HP never used SKt754 Semprons, but in any case it wont hurt to run CPU-Z to get confirmation.

    i have a weird problem not sure if it is anything u know when the windows splah screen appears it kinds appears jerky like it stops then slowly appears, seems weird i put a new 60gb 7200 rpm just makes it seem slow when booting? alos one **** thing happened u know one of the screw heads is gone out of shape on the enclosement capsule for the hd. So i can't take one of the screws out as now screw driver i have can get a hold of the screen head?
