    8440p vs 8440w

    What are the differences between these 2 models? I see the the 8440p can be configurated with discrete graphics, am I missing something if I just choose the 8440p?

    The 8440P has a 1366x768 LCD unless go for the NVS3100 model.
    The 8440W has 1600x900 LCD across the board with the faster FX3800M gpu across the board.

    If you need the faster graphics at a docked location, consider an Intel HD equipped 8440P + US$220/$260 GTS450/GTX460 x1 1.0 Optimus DIY ViDock. It will be cheaper, faster, run cooler and give better battery life.

    Could do the same with a Dell 13" E4310 or 14" E6410. The Dell Outlet is doing a 25% off sale so can get a i5-540M/i6-620M for US$535-$640.

    Thanks a lot guys, I just found out that the 8440W is not available in Europe?! So I guess, it will have to be the 8440p.

    it took a while until the 8440p arrived in Europe. Maybe the 8440w will be offered later. However by choosing the 8440p (p=professional) you get an outstanding notebook too. On a prestigious website it got even a better review compared to the w-version. Have a nice day.
