Hello HP experts,
Anybody here successfully installed a m.2 sata SSD drive and boot OS from it? I read that HP service manual said it can not be done.
however, I have read this and someone has done it successfully: Confused - Elitebook 840 G1 and the SSD m.2 slot ... - HP Enterprise Business Community
Boot from m.2 is huge feature for me and I know it works on a Zbook 14 but if i works flawless on the 840 G1, that would be great.
Basically identical Laptops with the 840 G1 with similar specs coming in at 33% less costs![]()
Thanks in advance for any info here!

Booting from m.2 works fine with the Elitebook 850. I had a harder time finding / making a bootable Windows USB installation drive as these models are brilliantly distributed with DVD installation media.

thanks for the reply. I'm glad to hear it works perfect on the 850. then good confidence it works fine on the 840 g1 too. Not sure why HP's manual says its only for cache SSD and can't boot from it.
HP 840 G1 boot from m.2 Sata SSD (zbook 14 can boot from m.2)
