well, we have temp tests on that, because i did them. lol

I really wish we had the bench/specs thread stickied, i really do.

it hits 95C with the 5000M/940XM fully decked out, but that is running furmark.

The highest i got it to under normal use was about 88c

Also note that Aikimox was talking about 30 degrees Celsius ambient temperatures, which is a little warm (86 degrees Fahrenheit).

I'd kill for 14c ambient, lol! Our heating controls need to get repaired.
Yes, like Judicator said it's the ambient temp that makes things worse. At 20C I'd play Crysis for hours and never see 80C on the GPU.

You'll need to get the ATI heatsink, due to the difference in copper available for the actual die on the card.

They are about 30 euros, but i will find a source that will ship to croatia if you need.

    Hey everyone,

I wonder if this mod would work on the 8740w (I know, shameless plug, but it's useful :)?

Looking around, there's nothing better (for me at least) than the 8740w with a Dreamcolor display, 920XM processor, 32 GB RAM (very cheap) and the Quadro FX adapter, and if I could do something like that + Aikimox's mod, it should make it possible to overclock the hell out of the i7.

Also, is it possible to undervolt the Quadro FX 2800/3800 or the 5000M for that matter on these laptops (couldn't find info on this anywhere)?
