HP Elitebook 2540p questions

I'm planning to get a new 2540p.

I found that there are 2 different 9 cell batteries available with the following serial numbers:

BJ803AA#AC3 ( ICEcat.biz )

and

BJ803AA ( ICEcat.biz )

(one with and one without the #AC3 in the end)

But It seems that they both have the exact same specs. Except their price.

Also they say that both have a 11.1 V voltage but nothing about the AH or WH.

Is there a real difference between the 2?

Also, if someone got a 2540p (with 9 cell battery if possible), how good is the battery life?
How good is the laptop in general?
Is it noisy ?
Does it overheat?
How is the new elitebook chiclet keyboard?
How different is a 2540p compared to a 2510p (that's the one I have at the moment).
Did you encounter problems while running linux on it?

Any user feedback would be nice.

Out of all the people who read these forums I can't believe no one has an elitebook 2540p.

 

After asking a vendor, I finally got some relevant information about the batteries.

The BJ803AA is compatible with HP Notebooks (2510p, 2530p, 2540p, 2740p). Its specs are:
11.1V and 7.65Ah, so that makes 11.1*7.64=84.915Wh

As for the difference between the 2, the BJ803AA is the original part with 1 year warranty, whereas the BJ803AA#AC3 is a spare part with 3 months warranty.

Anyone who wants to share his/her experience with an Elitebook 2540p is welcome to do so.

 

I noticed that we don't even have a 2540P Owner's lounge. It's predecessors, 2530P, has a lounge but with relatively few posts.

 

Yeah, this is sad. Maybe I should turn this thread into a 2540p owner's lounge... I don't know if it's possible, though, I mean change the thread title.

 

I have the 2510p with Runcore SSD Zif and Samsung HDD in the optical bay. I ma running onto problems with the SSD and wonder if it is time to upgrade.
A friend has the HPTouchSmart TM2 and loves it. However it is a bit heavier than the 2540p It also has a different processor. I am not gaming etc. I use office applications with Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice recognition. Will I notice a performance difference between the TouchSmart and the 2540p?

In other words is the 2540p worth the hefty premium???

In the wait of an Owner's lounge:

I have now got my new 2540p. It was an upgrade from my previous 2510p. I did try to upgrade the 2510 with a Runcore SSD, but after three replacements I gave up, and bought the new one instead!

I have the 2540p with i7, 160 GB SSD/ 4GB RAM and what a blast! Start-up time for Win 7 with all programs installed (MS Office, Adobe CS4 and more) is 45-50 sec (compared to 6-7 mins on 2510p with the same programs installed!). Screen is good enough, also for movies and photos. Better than on 2510p, but not excellent (I hadn't expected about what it was, although I did hope somewhere that it would be really good). Keyboard is really really nice. I write much better on it than on the old 2510p, with far fewer mistakes. The 2540p also has a really nice robust quality feel to the whole thing, without being bulky. Classy!

Thats about as much as I can say so far.

That's pretty nice to hear. Maybe you could make a little video showing the beastie side by side with the 2510p? How long does the it last on battery?

 

Not to get too far off topic but I'm considering the refreshed TM2 to replace my Acer 1410T 11.6" ultraportable. Just waiting for CTO to be anounced. I have considered buying Dragon Naturally Speaking again. I had it 10 years ago and I could not use it professionally. I am a fairly decent touch typest (85+) on a decent keyboard. Probably less on an 11.6" or 12.1" due to the crowding of my hands on the keys. How do you like Naturally Speaking these days? Have they perfected it?
