Hello fellow forum members,
I have HP ZBook 15 G4 with NVIDIA Quadro M2200 (4GB, 55W TDP) and I'm looking at upgrade options for the GPU as it's clearly the biggest bottleneck of this latop.
The current generation of Zbook 15 G6 is shipped with the following GPUs:
NVIDIA Quadro RTX 3000 (6 GB GDDR6 dedicated) - 80W TDP
NVIDIA Quadro T2000 (4 GB GDDR5 dedicated) - 60W TDP
and also NVIDIA Quadro T1000 (4 GB GDDR5 dedicated) - 50W TDP
To put it into perspective if the NVIDIA Quadro M2200 (4GB) is 100% of the performance upgrade to RTX 3000 means 446% of the performance (more than 4x the current performance) upgrade to T2000 is 234% performance (2x the performance) and T1000 is 189% (almost 2x the performance)
Did anyone of you tried the upgrade? Any experience is greatly appreciated.
A tried to lookup ebay and I did not even see the new GPUS on offer as spare parts (RTX 3000 / T2000/ T1000)...
Edit: Added TDP for T1000

I checked the ebay again and the RTX 3000 is now available on ebay for hefty price tag of US$799 (part number: DAXW3UB7C0A) but I'm afraid the TDP (and the MXM ?) is too far apart from the current laptop... -
@John66 I am afraid @win32asmguy is not correct here .. the 17 inch Zbooks are all MXM Type B cards. There will be no spare parts from 15 inch models because the 15 inch Zbooks are with soldered GPUs since G5. 15 inch Dells where most of the spare GPUs came from before are using their proprietary MXM standard which is incompatible with MXM Type A. So 15 Zbooks are no longer upgradable unfortunately, if you wish upgradability, buy 17 inch one.

So anyone who would like to consider MXM upgrade gotta stick with 17 inch version as the MXM cards are still repairable/replaceable.

And zbook 17 G5 "Maintenance and Service Guide": https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-zbook-17-g5-mobile-workstation/18865648/manuals
(page 76 explicitly mentions "Before removing the discrete MXM daughter card, follow these steps: ..."
Anyway - thank you very much for pointing the different MXM Types out.
