Honestly hadn't thought to ask. I know I'm just one customer but I figured I shouldn't have to try this hard to give them $2500.![]()
Maybe I'll try again later. Was this through SMB?

I called this number 1-888-476-3988, option #3. Then they called over to smb while on hold to confirmed my order.

Also had my order cancelled (Studio)

That's not very encouraging, as that's what they're trying to get me to order as a replacement. Bounced around a few different phone numbers, now trying some emails.

My order finally shipped today and will be he this Friday.

Is X9T85UT the product number for the regular-G3 with UHD screen? I thought it would come with a Xeon processor.

My i7-6820 UHD DC G3 Studio shipped today from China by UPS. I have yet to receive a shipment email, but noticed rebates from HP (for delayed shipment) were posted on my Amex account, so I called SMB.

My i7-6820 DC regular G3 shipped Friday. No credits for me in spite of the run-around about my order being cancelled (and the slight shipping delay).

Thanks, I finally did get the 10% at least. Got the computer today and impressed thus far with two significant exceptions: crazy shrieking noise only heard once while installing OpenSUSE from external flash drive. Significant flex in the central section of the keyboard. Ugh...I really don't want to have to send this back.

HP have a promotion on the ZBook 150W Thunderbolt 3 Dock for $100. I just called to have them credit me back the difference.

My i7-6820 UHD DC G3 Studio arrived today. Booted fine. Now installing SW.
Don't accept Express Settings, click Customize (small type, left bottom)... you'll be surprised at what Express Settings sends to third parties.
SMB offered another $30 rebate for price reduction of the TB3 dock I ordered with my Studio in May. Final price for i7-6820 UHD DC G3 Studio / 512 / 16 / webcam, with TB-3 dock and extra 150W PS, after all rebates (2 x late shipment, 1 x Amex/HP promotion) and original discounts, was USD 2324. I'm happy about the final price, but not about one hour wait times on "Elite Service" tech support line (inquiry about what UHD DC panel is used).Last edited: Jul 18, 2016 -

My zbook g3 15 with Xeon came today I have to send it back as they put a 1080p screen instead of the 4k dreamcolor screen I ordered. The computer has no problems but the screen.

Hi, I'm going to buy a HP ZBook Studio G3. I will use it mainly with Office, AutoCAD, InDesign, SketchUp and Photoshop.
In my country only two configurations are available:
--- 1 ---
i7 6700HQ
8 GB RAM
256 GB SSD
FHD Display (1920*1080), IPS, matte, not Dreamcolor
--- 2 ---
Xeon E3-1505M v5
16 GB RAM
512 GB SSD
UHD Display (3840*2160), IPS, matte, not Dreamcolor
Of course, for both computers the GPU is the NVIDIA Quadro M1000M (GDDR5 4 GB) and the OS is Windows 10 Pro.
The price difference is about 600 euros.
I have some questions for you.
Is the UHD display really useful on a 15.6 display? With FHD I will able to leave Windows scaling at 100%, that is not scaling at all; but with UHD I will have to set Windows scaling at 200-250% (otherwise text and icons will be too tiny) so the work area will be probably the same as with FHD at 100%: text and icons will be the same size, just sharper than with FHD at 100%. What are the pros of a UHD display on a 15.6 display? An what are the cons? Is there a quality difference between the two display (apart from resolution)?
Are the problems with fan and keyboard flex present also in the i7 models?
ThanksLast edited: Jul 16, 2016 -
Apps like Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp will really benefit from DC... but since DC is not available in your market, IMO the UHD is overkill for you. I would use a large external display as my primary display, were I you.
My fan has yet to come on.
I have ZERO FLEX in my keyboard.
BIOS is v. 1.07 - 4/27/2016
Win10 Pro build 10.0.10586 (Build 10586)
Resolution 3840 x 2160 at 59 Hz
Bits/Pixel 32
15W available via USB-C ports, USB 3.1 Gen 2 -

May someone who have a dream color display look under device manager and tell me the display I'd.

Were you guys able to fix the fan oscillation issue? Fan noise I don't mind.. but the oscillation is driving me crazy. I'm on Win7 bios v01.07 4/27/2016.
I see that the latest bios on the HP website is also 01.07, but dated 5/3/2016. Any luck with that version? -
If I buy the ZBook Studio G3 with just 8 GB RAM, will I get one slot with 8 GB and the other free? Or will I get 2 x 4 GB RAM?

HWINFO64 reports the UHD DC screen type is Sharp (unknown model SHP1445).
Reviews of the UHD ZBook (not DC) from earlier this year reported the screen model as SHP 1445. This leads to the inference that the DC is a top bin of the SHP1445, rather than a different model panel.
Just talked with a tech at HP Elite Services who confirmed that the UHD Dreamcolor panel is the top bin of SHP 1445s, selected based on ability to deliver the color spaces required by DC. He said that other manufacturers' panels may be used so long as the panels meet the DC specs. He also confirmed that the 1.08 BIOS was pulled and that new G3 Studios are shipping with 1.07.Last edited: Jul 18, 2016 -
I would like to buy the HP ZBook Studio G3, but I'm reading that this machine has many problems with overheating and fan noise. What can you tell me about them? Is it possible to remediate with bios/driver updates?
In particular read this:

i dont think so,i mean i dont know i bought it from someone who doesent know, zbook works good just that 2 warning are annoying, the link you posted are for different hp notebooks

The link I provided above was given to me for a Studio G3 by HP Support. Try it, see if it works. If not, you'll need to contact HP support on that as well. -
Anyone experience weird clicking sound adjusting the brightness of the display? Dreamcolor LCD
-
It looks like the Dreamcolor Panel is not yet available nor have testing on its performance yet, right??

My Dreamcolor G3 ZBook Studio (i7-6820) arrived on 16 July 2016. The panel looks as good as a Samsung AMOLED on their top 10"-12" tablets, but having that PPI on even bigger screen. IMO, the DC has better, more subtle, color gradations compared to 4K TV screens. There's a reason Dreamcolor dominates post production and color grading houses, rather than Samsung, Sony, etc.

ZBook Studio G3 owners (or ZBook 17 owners, if any hang out in this thread):
I'm investigating an NVIDIA driver issue that affects some laptops including the Dell Precision line. It is reliably reproducible on the Precision and I'm wondering if it also affects Lenovo or HP workstations. The issue has to do with the screen contrast being adjusted automatically when the laptop is running on the dGPU only, and on battery power.
Dell has reproduced the issue for me but is not interested in working with NVIDIA to fix it, so I'm working on a case for NVIDIA directly. If other laptops are affected it will be easier to find something for them to test on (and also more likely that they'll care about fixing it).
Can someone try this and let me know if you can reproduce the issue?
Requirements: NVIDIA GPU, Optimus/hybrid graphics disabled in the BIOS (discrete GPU only), no external displays attached
Pull your AC adapter to get on battery power. Visit http://stuff.aaron-kelley.net/2016/07/black2.html, switch to full screen with F11 key, scroll the white box on and off the screen and see if you can notice the contrast changing while carefully observing the white background behind the text at the top.
Thanks for any feedback. -

Work ordered me the X9T82UT#ABA from HP but not sure if screen is dreamcolor or not. Specs just say 512gb zdrive, 16gb, Core i7 2.60ghz.

Anyone notice it being extremely slow on battery?

Looks like a good set of features. Why did you choose to have SGX permanently disabled? SGX could e useful to secure open source software in Linux.

Can this Workstation take a non PCI-e sata m.2 2280 drive.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk -
What you can do is go to configure the G3 Studio on the HP website and see if what kind of drives they have for the M.2 slots. If they offer M.2 SATA drives then they should work.Last edited: Aug 6, 2016 -
Can someone help me? My laptop seem really slow on battery even when I set it to "high performance".
-
Set CPU to 100% in advanced settings for High Performance mode on battery.
-
Yes, I have it set to 100% already. It is still really slow. -
In Task Manager, check for processes that are heavy CPU and kill them.
Why only battery mode? Is AC mains performance fast? -
