Hello,
I own this workstation, after having run a deep search among: Hp websites for specs (all of the revisions available: http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04407527.pdf and http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/getpdf.aspx/c04434046.pdf?ver=4.0) I didn't find what kind of internal expansion/port/slot is I've highlighted in the picture below; it'd seem an msata one but after having verified (documentation and picture) it shouldn't . May you help me to recgnize it please?
Thank you.

Mini PCI and MSATA slots share the same form factors, which is perhaps where the confusion lies. Some machines can accept an SSD in such a slot but plenty of them can't. I use a secondary Wifi card in my slot or a WWAN GPS card when I go traveling with it. It depends whether the motherboard allows it from what I gather. Apparently the HP ZBook can accept an MSATA and use it as an SSD cache to speed up loading some applications but it's worth a check to make sure I'm not talking absolute rubbish.

You're right. That is the slot for the Wan card; here is the url where is showed by HP how to replace it: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/...978814&docId=emr_na-c04472091&docLocale=en_US

On the ZBook 17 G2 can you install an mSATA in that slot or it the connections not compatible?

Fortuitously, the relevant thread popped up on the newsfeed:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/zbook-g2-owners-alternatives-to-z-turbo-drive.769103/
Apparently it can accept a PCIe SSD but *not* an mSATA SSD. More info in the thread so worth a look through it.
Is that inside port/slot available not documented yet?
