I read in the newsticker from German pc-magazine c't that HP is recalling some AC-powercords. HP ruft Kabel von Notebook-Netzteilen zurück | heise online. I could not find a translation on their page.
Here is the info from HP https://h30652.www3.hp.com/ from August 26, 2014
HP is not specific if it is a problem that applies only to the PS where the cords have a round cable, or if the ones with the flat cable provided in the US with PS are also affected. However reading the comments in the discussions to this c't article, cables with other designators can be affected/dangerous too, one uploaded a picture https://imgur.com/gHVfscXof his cord, which just burnt up yesterday evening, and it was not a LS-15 marked cable.
And in response to this picture another one found that his cable is affected too http://i.imgur.com/y9KivR0.jpg![]()
Finally for now, another one provided this picture http://i.imgur.com/3DCQDS4.jpgwhere ground and phase are switched. This is the same connector type now used on the PS from the zBooks. He did not say it was supplied with a HP product and the thinkpad in the back tends to show it was not, nor that it is a widespread problem just that he found one where phase and ground where exchanged, and that we should be aware..
I don't wan't to scare anyone, but how do you know that your AC cord is a original from HP unless it came sealed with the PS in a package. What about repairs, I was asked to include the PS, how do you know yours came back with the repair.

I just bought an HP EliteBook 725 G2 J5N82UT. I checked my power cord but I'm still worried. I also own a an advanced HP dock with a power cord with the LS-15 marking. I also own another HP Compaq Presario. How can I be sure I Dont have a fire waiting to happen?

I checked all my cables I had at home, but I still have some more at work .So far I found 2 with the molded mark LS-15,
one with the round cable and European AC-connector and
one with the flat cable and the US 3 pin AC connector.
That answers my previous question, all type of cables seem to be affected.
At least one of my cables belongs to an AC Air/Car/Wall power supply (AJ652), which I cannot enter because HP allows only to enter notebooks.
I will call HP on monday and ask how they expect customers to reply if e.g. single power supplies or those delivered with docking stations cannot be entered.
