i just bought the hp dv 4165cl series at sam's for $1399 with 2.0 gz m760, 1gb ram, 100gb 4200 rpm hd, xp pro, lightscribe, and remote. since they have a great return policy, do you think it's worth it to return it to get the HP L2000 LA with turion-34-1.8hz, 512 mb ram(would upgrade to 1gig), 5400 rpm 80gb hd, xp home(have xp pro cd), dvd burner(no lightscribe) and bluetooth, all for $999? i would be saving quite a bit of money even with the gig of ram uprgrade and get a faster hard drive(big difference) what do you guys think?

I was debating between these two models. Unless you're gonna carry around the laptop around, keep your dv 4165cl. Else if you are gonna carry around like a student would, then i'd get the L2000. The dv4000 is nicer and has more media capabilities with more options to enjoy while you're at your desk. But the L2000 also has 64-bit, which will help when longhorn gets released next year. I'd say keep get dv 4165cl. But getting the L2000 would be better in long run if you're a student.

    I'm getting the L2000.
They are both nice machines but Im a poor student and every penny i save is one more day I can eat. :)

Personally I think the L2000 is a better machine. It has a better IGP solution, Its AMD, and its a nice looking system.

I spent some time during the summer messing with the one at my local computer store and they feel nice they do get warm under the left palm but it wasnt anything that bothered me and I figure for the price, power, and size its worth a little heat.

thanx for you guyses inpout. i am a student in high school so i would be carrying it around sometimes. the money difference is a big plus because i could maybe get 2 gigs ram, ms office, and still be below the 1399. is the turion slower than the m760 even with the hd rpm difference? i know amd has better integrated graphics than intel so i could maybe get a few more fps out of some games. i kind of like how $50 is going to the cancer foundation if i buy the livestrong. i can't make up my mind! please help

There wont be day & light difference between the Turion ML-34 & the P-M 760 but the Turion will be slightly slower(5 10%). Now with the 5400rpm HD & 1Gb RAM it should be pretty lively overall & for daily regular usage there wont be any issues with speed. I would pick the L2000 over the dv4000.
