Well after talking to a CSR on the phone I was able to get a coupon for $200 off, which I just used to buy a dv6500t. I didn't ask when it expired, though I checked to see if it still worked after using it, by creating a "dummy" account and then applying the coupon and it still works! So the code is not account-specific.
The code is: NB9850
By the way I bought the following:
* Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
* Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz/4MB L2Cache)
* 15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
* $50 off upgrade from 1GB (2 Dimm) to 2GB (2 Dimm)!
* 383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
* HP Imprint (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader +Webcam
* Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network w/Bluetooth
* 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
* LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer
* No TV Tuner w/remote control
* 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
* Microsoft(R) Works 8.0
* HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
Which was $1,629.57 without coupon, after $200.00 off: $1,521.32 savings of 108.25!
Though as I said, I'm not sure when this will expire.
-
Even so, nice info! Any discount is better than none at all.......... -
-
I just figured out why it only takes off $100. I signed into my account and applied the coupon, which removed the instant rebate. Strange, considering that the May $200 coupon did not do this...........
-
By the way, I love you.
-
SO the irony of the $200 coupon is that it's a better deal than going through HP's APP program. That's sad.
-
when do u apply the coupon? I see no place at checkout
-
-
wow coupons arent combined with instant rebates, annoying..

06/06/2007 09:18:07AM Duy: "Because previously I tried to apply a different coupon in April with the Dv6000t and could not get the system to recognize it"
06/06/2007 09:18:16AM Agent (Marilyn): "I would request you to create a new profile without EPP and then place the order." -
Many coupons also have a use limit. They might expire on a certain date, or after X number of uses, whichever comes first.
-
What's odd is the validation date she gave, starting 6/10. The coupon already works now.
-
I called them and they started asking about where I got the code from, what did the coupon look like, etc... They still gave me the discount though
-
oh damn...this seems to work out cheaper than the APP. i should have waited
Anyone know if i can call in and tell them to apply this instead of the APP?
-
Does this turn out to be cheaper than the student program too?
-
I called after I placed my order, and they won't let you change the order to add a coupon after the fact. Maybe if you called within 5 minutes and it has not been approved yet, but not after that.
-
How much more do you save with the coupon compared to the APP?
-
For me its only around 30 bucks...so its not a big deal. I'd rather not go thru the hassles of cancelling and placing a new order..
-
Well, my upgraded DV6500T came to $1358.44 (w/tax) with the APP and $1344.98 (w/tax) without the APP and the coupon code. So the total difference was $13.46...lol
-
Oh ok. Then the coupon must be less than $100 because I think I saved around $65 with APP. No big deal for me
-
I just tried the coupon code versus my EPP discount and my EPP discount saved me 26.21 more than with the 200 coupon. I couldn't apply the coupon to my EPP.
I think I'm going to get the 6500t since it is cheaper than a similarly configured 2500t, has more dedicated video RAM and comes 5 days sooner.
Anytime you can pay less and get more, it's a good deal.
Here is the configuration I'm going to get:
HP Pavilion dv6500t customizable Notebook PC
EPP_00_RM098AV
Upgrade to Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit)
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz/4MB L2Cache)
15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
$50 off upgrade from 1GB (2 Dimm) to 2GB (2 Dimm)!
383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
HP Imprint (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader +Webcam
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network w/Bluetooth
160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer
No TV Tuner w/remote control
12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Microsoft(R) Works 8.0
HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
I figure I can get a USB TV tuner which is smaller than the HP TV tuner. -
I just ordered a dv2500t with the academic discount, and I couldn't apply the coupon either.
Drumming my fingers until this bad boy arrives. -
-
If you're using the academic discount, the coupon will void that discount and instead give you $200 off the main price instead of the regular $100 discount + academic discount. It's pretty simple..lol
I just ordered a DV6500T and saved about $11 with the coupon rather than the academic discount. Not much really, but hey, $11 is $11. -
Yeah, so I used this coupon code today, and I received the following message:
"Thank you for your recent order with HP Home & Home Office Store.
We regret that we are unable to accept it.
We appreciate your interest in HP products.
HP Home & Home Office Store"
Maybe the coupon will only be accepted from June 10? -
I think its sad that a normal consumer discount is deeper than APP. It speaks to how much HP values students, which isn't all that much. -
I'd also be willing to bet they have pretty good back to school sales. -
Well, since APP is a percentage discount and the coupon code is a flat amount, the APP discount works out to be better if you get enough upgrades...in the configuration I'd get, for example, I actually save about $3 with APP vs. the coupon code.
-
What is the APP percentage? And is it true the coupon expired? Are there any other coupons around?
-
my APP is a flat amount
-
Just wanted everyone to know that the coupon still works up to now, I just used it. Knocked a full $200 off the DV6500t SE.
-
-
if you use the coupon the SE is only $13 more expensive. Is there anything else that the SE comes with?
-
-
they should put something more "special" in the "special edition" besides mouse&headset for$2 and a white skin. It would b nice if they add better video card or an accessory exclusive to that edition but i guess it wont happend
