I've been calling the regular CS number, 1 (888) 999-4747. I have been unable to find another number on their site to call other than the tech support . . .

I think we should give HP a break now. Just a few minutes ago, I took a look at the dv5t customization page and the 9600M GT ($200) option is back! There also is the option for the integrated TV tuner HD ($100).
-
i kno! lets hope it lasts until tonight! that's when ill be ordering mine! if it doesnt, i'll be a sad little man.

The 9600GT is back indeed.
I wonder if it is possible to add that TV tuner at a later date. I'm glad it is an internal tuner; I had an HP review notebook two years ago with an ExpressCard one. While it worked, it was kind of clumsy and I always felt like I was going to break it since it stuck out rather far. -
Hey I ordered a Dv5t and it is in production.
I returned my Dv9700t along with the garbage 8600 gs. Im a little upset about getting the 160gb harddrive and now there is a free upgrade to a 250gb hard drive. They couldnt give it to me because it is in production already.
Idk what I should do if I run out of space(maybe get a portable HD). Anyway when did the 9600gt come back as an option? b\c I was on like a week ago and it was there. Hey chaz what specs did u get for your dv5t? Did you get the free 250gb Hd or the free 160gb HD? (Mine specs are in sig). Oh yeah and did anyone find out about if the 9600M Gt had GDD3 or GDD2?
-
But is 256mb 9200GS good enough to run modern graphical games? (like Age of Empire III, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, etc)..
-
Maybe at lower res + lower settings. You should go for the 9600GT
-
I was able to play Age of Empire III and NBA Live 08 at highest setting with NVidia GeForce Go 7400.
Isn't Starcraft II/Diablo 3 supposed to be moderate compared to games like Crysis?
I'm purchasing dv4t, so yea.. 9200GS is only choice. I just went with Blu-Ray for the price of 9600GT. -
Strangesweet the 9600M GT option is back.

I got mine with the free 160GB drive . . . the 250GB drive was free after mine had shipped. I did however succeed in getting a $100 refund since HP started offering an instant $100 rebate; they have a 21-day price protection policy.
You can always upgrade the hard drive at a later date.
I got a P8400, WSXGA+ Infinity, 9600, 802.11g wireless and bluetooth, vista 32-bit (one of these days I will put that in my signature).
The 9600M-GT is DDR2.
I agree with the 9600M-GT suggestion; the 9200M-GS is a very weak card and will not be able to run more demanding games. -
ordered 2.53ghz, 4gb ram, and 9600m gt. COD4 will be very playable on that correct?
-
Yeah maybe at a later date if I run out of space I will get a new hard drive. They are pretty cheap, you can get 250gb hard drive for like $100.
-
Of course it will be very playable, im actually getting the same specs on my dv5t. I think it should be able to pull of high settings maybe better with lower resolution.
-
i didnt even get that high resolution stuff for that reason. i figure stuff will only be playable on 1280x800.
-
I figured the same thing and games will still look nice at 1280x800.
-
I don't see any 9600GT. I'm buying dv4t though, not dv5t.

Ah - the 9600M-GT is not offered in the dv4t. It is on the dv5t though, I just checked:

I would say go for the dv5t its only has a 1" bigger screen and it had better upgrading options.
-
I'm not a heavy gamer so I think 256mb 9200GS is okay (maybe Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 at most once those games come out).. but I really envy 7200RPM HD though.
I just decided to go with Blu-Ray ROM + 256MB 9200GS + mobility for the same price of 512MB 9600GT + 7200RPM 160GB HD. -

The hard drive is an easy upgrade later on, and doing so doesn't void the warranty.
This is a very nice drive:

320GB 7200RPM Western Digital Black for $180. I remember two years ago I paid $200 for a 100GB 7200RPM Hitachi . . . -
I paid $160 for 7200RPM Hitachi few months ago..
Well it's nice to pay just $50+ upgraded by HP instead of paying $150+ upgrading my own.

Anyone know if HP still only use GDDR2 or if they have updated to GDDR3?
-
Well the HP drives include drop protection, at least on a few models.
And I emailed HP a few days ago, they said that the 9600m GT uses GDDR3. Sweet. -
ill believe it when i see it... and i dont see it
$200 upgrade to 9600M GT on the dv5t
