It is part of my ongoing, informal commitment to help assist those who had performed clean installs on their HP notebooks. All of the drivers here are also WHQL Certified or digitally signed drivers, available as of the date when this post was updated. These drivers should be compatible with the notebook series stated above, but I am not responsible for technical difficulties that can occur as a result of improper driver installation! Following along the same lines as the other driver threads, the process of installing and updating drivers is for <strong>ADVANCED/EXPERIENCED users only</strong>. Average users can use the drivers located at the <a href="http://www.hp.com/support/">HP support portals</a> -- they're the safest and simplest way to go in terms of drivers for your specific model. Is there a download for the envy IOS? I wiped it out when I installed windows 7 ultimate and it's the only thing I cannot find anywhere.

 

At this moment no, there is no download for the ios. even if you made recovery cds and ran the recovery as loading your version of win 7 would have wiped out all the hp components, therefor removing the recovery partition. running the recovery as far as i know will not put the ios back on. it also voids the software warranty when you change the os so to get support regarding it you will have to put it back to the original os that came with it.

basically the only way to get it back right now is to set it up for a repair to get reflashed in a way. as well as all the hardware are non replaceable parts so for any hardware replacements it too would need to be benched.. hopefully in the future when the notebooks becomes more popular as they were just released, they will bring out some sort of download for the ios at their website or some sort of cd..

The most recent BIOS is F.05 which fixes some (but not all) of the bugs in F.04. HP's website does not have F.05 available for download yet.

If you visited the original post, you may have noticed that I have begun organizing the driver entries into a table-based format. This allows the original post to contain more useful information, as suggested by the users here on NBR. It is not yet finished, but it should be complete soon.

Since this driver thread is still relatively new, I don't have to worry about this as much but Windows XP support will be dropped from the original post. This is because Windows XP is no longer in mainstream support, and also because I don't think many Envy 15 users would be using Windows XP anyway.

I pulled the regular HD out and replaced it with an Intel 2Gen SSD 80g into my Envy 15 and then did a fresh install of Win7 Pro 64.

There was an "Unknown Device" that turned out to require HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection installed to get rid of.

HD movement protection seems to not make sense with a SSD drive since there are no moving parts. Should I, and how do I "disable" this feature?

 

Hey anyone tried this BIOS upgrade and know what it does exactly? I got my Envy a week ago.. is there any way to check if its already preloaded?

Hey! Thanks for all the drivers...I have done a fresh install of windows ultimate as the envy skin was conflicting with some of my poker software...I have got the mouse gestures working and updated the graphics card drivers however i still have a few issues...The light on the mute button is permanently on but it does work, when I installed windows the light was on I don't know whether this is why? Its not a big problem but it would be great to get it back to normal...Also, I can't get the envy shortcut button to work (the one that looks like a tick above the web shortcut) Does anyone know how I can get this to work? Any help is much appreciated!

Hey, BIOS F.07 have been released. Running them on my laptop, and they solve (in theory) the iPhone syncing problem.

Downloaded and installed this. However, I still see Intel Storage Manager in the Programs menu, don't see any rapid storage tool.

EDIT: never mind. I had to run setup.exe manually. It's all fine now.

Anyone have any luck getting any other updated drivers for those of us with the ATI HD MOBILITY 4830. or does the 1 notebook driver forever to rule them all rule apply here?

 

Unfortunately, HP nor any other reliable sources have posted a newer WHQL-certified driver for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 that is natively supported. This should hopefully change when the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5830 drivers are released, since they may contain INF entries for the 4830 as well.

Justin, thank you very much for this thread and the constant updates. Had been wrestling for a couple weeks with my as OEM configured Envy 15 since I got it and finally threw in the towel for a clean install, and am much happier now!

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Com: i7, 6GB DDR3, 500 SATA 7200RPM

Based on this information (let me know if more is required for my question), does anyone know why I might be having trouble installing the Intel Turbo Boost Technology Driver?

I ensured the referenced chipset was installed first using the -overall method and double checked in Device Manager that the driver is signed by Intel opposed to Microsoft (which was the case following the fresh install).

For the Turbo Boost Driver, Device Manager says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)." I have:
1) Again, used -overall method.
2) Ran Setup.exe for this driver manually
3) Uninstalled the device and corresponding driver, before rebooting and repeating #1.

Is there something else I need to do? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I am checking for information online and will be sure to post back if I find anything, but am I missing something obvious?

Other than this issue, the rebuild has been flawless, thanks again Justin!

@ObigO - I had the same issue with the F11 / Mute LED staying on. While installing the drivers after a fresh install, I believe it was the IDT High Definition Audio Codec that fixed this for me.

 

I have the exact same issue. Im just about to do a fresh install but im not sure it this solves the problem. I hope someone has a solution

 

@Ryydhoff - guess nobody else is having the issue or maybe they don't know how to fix it. Or maybe people are ignoring me..did I post in the wrong location maybe? What OS version are you running?

I was able to track someone down that has the same laptop as me, and they are also running a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro x64. This person was able reinstall the turbo boost driver and all worked fine (again).

I doubt my running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 is the issue, but not sure what else to do at this point.

Hmmm...it seems that there are quite a few people (not just in this driver thread) that are having issues with the Intel Turbo Boost driver. HP posted multiple Softpaqs of the Turbo Boost driver, but they are all the same version (and consequently the same thing). Not sure how to help, but I guess everyone who has problems will need to wait for an updated version to be released.

 

why doesn't the envy driver page at HP list a turbo boost driver? How do you know the driver listed here applies to the envy?

 

The Envy needs the Turbo Boost driver because it allows for the proper operation of certain features found only in the Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors. Since the Envy series uses these processors, it makes sense that the Turbo Boost driver is needed.

The INF in the driver is pretty generic and does not contain any subvendor ID information that may be limiting compatibility to specific notebooks. Thus, the driver should be compatible with just about any system that has the Core i3/i5/i7.

Again, HP is being a bit lazy at posting these things up (it has happened before) -- they probably should have posted the Turbo Boost driver up but they either neglected to do so or it was forgotten.
