[Drivers] HP ENVY 15-3XXX / ENVY 17-3XXX (INTEL)

I've decided to take on the duty to post the latest drivers that are compatible with the following notebooks. It is part of my ongoing, informal commitment to help assist those who had performed clean installs on their HP notebooks. Please let me know if you find newer drivers or other devices so I can update this post!

Drivers

All of these drivers come from HP's website, Microsoft Update, and from other reputable websites (including other manufacturers). All of the drivers here are also WHQL Certified or digitally signed drivers, available as of the date when this post was updated. These drivers should be compatible with the notebook series stated above, but I am not responsible for technical difficulties that can occur as a result of improper driver installation!

Following along the same lines as the other driver threads, the process of installing and updating drivers is for ADVANCED/EXPERIENCED users only. Average users can use the drivers located at the HP support portals -- they're the safest and simplest way to go in terms of drivers for your specific model. Some of these drivers may work with notebooks other than the stated brand and models, but this is NOT guaranteed. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK -- only install these drivers if you know how to revert the changes that you have made should any problems be encountered.

Intel Chipset Device Software

Important Information
To ensure that all device drivers are updated, simply execute the downloaded setup file using the -overall parameter. Example: If you saved the downloaded file as infinst911autol.exe to the root directory of C: drive, you can launch the Run command (Windows key + R) and insert "C:\infinst911autol.exe -overall" in the Open field (without the quotes). Press OK to begin the interactive installation process. Starting with Intel Chipset Device Software package version 9.2.0.1016, the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver may become overwritten with the driver that exists in the package if it is installed. Should such an instance occur, reinstall the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver afterwards. Version 10.0.14 originates from and is provided by Micro-Star International (MSI). The zip package contains the setup installer and release notes.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology

Important Information
Intel Rapid Storage Technology was previously known as Intel Matrix Storage Manager. It is highly recommended that you install this even if RAID is not configured on your system. See Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) - Product overview for more information. If you are having problems with the Interactive Setup wizard, use the INF Install method instead. This allows the driver to be installed using the Device Manager - Update Driver wizard. Once the driver is installed, you can try the Interactive Setup wizard again to ensure that the software is correctly installed.

Intel Solid State Drive Firmware Update

Important Information
Only install this if your notebook uses one of the following HP-supplied solid state drives! Use the Device Manager to verify that this is the case. Intel X18-M Mainstream SSD Series Intel X25-M Mainstream SSD Series Intel SSD 320 Series Only apply this firmware update once. You do not need to re-apply this firmware update again if you have already done so.

AMD Radeon HD Graphics

Important Information
Make sure that you download and install the package that is applicable to your notebook series. Do not install these if you have an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator / Intel HD Graphics or an AMD graphics card that is not applicable! REQUIRED: The current HP releases specifically support HP versions of the specified Mobility Radeon HD models and include the following components. AMD graphics driver with switchable graphics feature (if applicable) HDMI audio driver AMD Catalyst Control Center configuration software OPTIONAL: If you want to install the current driver package provided by AMD, download and install it on top of the HP release. This is done so that the switchable graphics feature can continue to operate properly. Use the reference drivers at your own risk! Although they are provided by AMD, they are not guaranteed to operate normally under all circumstances. Broadcom 2070 / 20702 Bluetooth

Important Information
Only install this if your notebook contains an HP Integrated Bluetooth module or a Broadcom 2070/20702 Bluetooth module! Use the Device Manager to verify that this is the case. Please note that version 6.5 packages will, without your permission, install bloatware into the following directory - C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\EasyBits Games. You can safely remove the EasyBits Games folder and then run a registry scan (using third-party software) to remove any other evidence of EasyBits on your system.

It sounds like you did a clean install much like I did. I am still trying to find out whether this laptop also has a Ambient Light sensor and what driver/program is needed if it does have the hardware.

I am still using the Intel Integrated and AMD Radeon drivers that were delivered through Windows Update. These lack a software control panel for switchable graphics. I'm looking for that as well.

 

Did you try using the graphics driver located on the first post?

My touchpad still does not scroll. I have the reils app and the latest driver for the touchpad but still no go.

Can someone put a step by step guide on removing and installing the drivers and software to make this work properly?

Also can they include the proper settings to use between the Synaptics software and Reils?

Maybe even as a new topic.

I am sure there are others in the same boat and this would really help us out.

Otherwise everything else is working great.

Does anyone have a link to the drivers for the Envy 15-3XXX? The driver package posted do not work, and the drivers that install with Windows Update show the video card to be a 6750M.

For those wanting to use the 2-finger or 3-finger gestures, try the following Synaptics driver. If you do not need this feature, use the current release that I have up on the first post.

This is currently a big problem - HP/AMD/Microsoft has not yet posted graphics drivers specifically compatible to the ENVY 15. I'm assuming HP is on the holiday break, so it may take them a little while until something is posted.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone owning an ENVY 15-3XXX can post the graphics driver. You can find the driver package in the C:\SWSetup folder.

 

Here are a couple of updates - please thank Trader05 for uploading these. HP has not posted these officially as of yet.

Warning: Download size is over 650 MB. This is because HP incorrectly packaged the driver - they basically re-packaged the driver package inside of itself. If they had packaged this correctly, the download size would only be half of what it is now.

Which driver version did you use? Could you try the following (HP default) driver and see if this resolves your issue?

If you install HPSA you'll be able to install Cool Sense. Otherwise it won't work, in my case.

I've got a problem with the gpus:
I've reinstalled my system with Windows 7 x64 yesterday
I've installed all the necessary drivers for the Envy 17-3080ez. But I can't find the ATI GPU in the Device Manager as well I cant switch the gpu.
Is there a possibility to switch the gpu to the ATI GPU? The BIOS (is very restricted and only provides "some" options. It seems that only the Intel GPU is recognised by the system.

After a fresh install, my volume dial is functioning and I have beats audio.

However, the beats audio button is not functioning. In addition, when I change volume or brightness, no notification of this change comes up on the screen. I think whatever I'm missing might be affecting the volume output of the computer as well.

Does anybody know what will get the beats audio button working again? And/or what driver controls the volume and brightness pop-up displays?

The beats audio button works if you install HP Quick Launch. It's available on HP's official driver downloads page for this laptop.

Guys i just bought a 17 3002EA and if you can believe it the primary HDD died before the machine could load Windows for the first time, therefore I wasnt able to create a set of restore DVD's grrr

I was going to use my SDD drive anyway but i wasn't planning on needing to clean install

ANyway i now have everything working pretty much as it should expect my USB 2.0 logitech mouse isn't working in the USB ports. When i connect it I get the usual device found sound, but the mouse doesn't wake

I have the 3.0 USB driver installed, what should I do any ideas?

Infact...I am very impressed with the two finger scrolling! It works fine now.

Finally all the touch pad issues seem to be ironed out.

 

I have an Envy 15 on order and I'm curious as to whether I need to read through the various BIOS/SW/Driver update threads and carefully select the separate updates once my laptop arrives.

Does the HP update assistant (or whatever they call their software meant to keep machines current) automatically detect ALL the updates needed to make the laptop current and prompt me for download??

 

It is supposed to but in my case it had to manually search the update for the cickpad. So don't rely on it for that.

 

My right click wasn't working either, i had to activate it on the synaptics clickpad setting. By default with the update it comes with the 2 fingers click for the right click functions.

This update fixed the 2 finger scrolling, but pinch to zoom has been messed up for me.

 

does anyone know how to install a catalyst graphics control panel for my Envy 17 3xxx? I installed the most recent 7690M XT driver but there is no option anywhere to change ANY settings beyond the screen resolution?

Plus the driver was over 600mb ?

 

BIOS F.05 is available for HP ENVY 15 on HP.com now.

anyone seem to be missing the fixed/dynamic option for the gpus after upgrading to f05? I don't have this option on my 17.

• Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.3.0.1019.

The driver components within the Intel Chipset Device Software will have a version that is less than or equal to 9.3.0.1019; it depends on when Intel last updated the driver.

 

New IDT drivers do not work that are posted today here. It says Vista only error message. I have Win 7 x64

Also, if you install the new Intel Chipset software (9.3.0.1019), the Rapid Storage app breaks. You won't be able to uninstall or re-install it. Trick according to forms is to download ZIP of INFs and update driver direclty in device manager. Then reinstall the Rapid Storage software again.

• Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 6.10.6370.0.

The installer worked fine for me in Windows 7; however, I'm rolling back because of a popping sound problem. I recommend 6.10.6368.0 for now but I'm currently keeping 6.10.6370.0 up for those who want to try it. I'll remove from all the driver threads if this release becomes an increasing problem.

 

I made a clean install and nothing seems to be wrong with 6.10.6370.0.

 

Problem: For some of you (especially non english users), changing the control volume direction of the sound wheel in the beats audio control panel does not work (not taken into account) because there is no save button.

Solution: change it in the last tab of beats audio control panel and then go to the second tab ("listen" tab in english I guess). Make a small change so that the save button becomes enabled and save.

 

I upgraded the Synaptics drivers and lost my right click. I tried to get it back in the Synaptics control panel settings, but couldn't see where to do it. So I rolled back the driver and it started working again.

 

You definitly should install Reil's Envytouchpad if not done yet

 

Go to the synaptics Clickpad menu (I used Start menu search)> double click on "clicking" > corner click action > change to "secondary Click".

Or you can just use two fingers to click for "right click"
