Ouch, my tab key just popped off the keyboard (envy 14 1xxx). :( Completely my fault though. I'm an all keyboard guy and use tab a LOT. Missing it already!

What are my options? Will HP service replace just the single key or the whole keyboard? Moreover, I bought the laptop in the US but 'am now in India. Envy 14 was very recently launched in India, if it matters.

Dang. I popped off one of my keys too a couple months ago... had to get the entire keyboard replaced, and had to send it in to do it. It would have been something like $90 if I didn't have the Accidental Damage thing or whatever it's called.

Don't know what to tell you about being in India :(. I'd just call if I were you.

Just called, learned that even my warranty expired 3 days ago. :(
They said I need to replace the whole thing, costs somewhere around 4000 Indian rupees (~$80)

How hard is it to replace the keyboard by myself? Amazon lists it for $38 http://www.amazon.com/Backlit-keyboard-14-1000-14-1100-Notebook/dp/B004WYJS8K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320505574&sr=8-1
or can I buy single keys from some place?

I haven't taken mine apart, but plenty of others on the forum have, if they wouldn't mind weighing in. I can't imagine it's the most difficult thing in the world to do.

Yeah, like I said, they also told me the whole keyboard needs to be replaced, and that price sounds about right.

Search the forums for the Service Manual... it's in there on how to do it.
