:) Hi, i have a Hp Pavillion dv9000 and sometime in Aug. 2007 my stupid brother spilled water on the laptop and lets just say i had 2 find out the hard way...We took it 2 best buy becasue we only had the laptop for 6months and we sill had warranty for it....but they said our warranty does not cover for it...
I want 2 fix it but the lady also said it cost as much as a new comp...We got a new desktop but i still want the laptop back...It's a waste to just leave it doing nothing and i bought it when it first came out...so it cost more than it does now -_-....Do u have any advice for me  ....I will fix it if the cost it up 2 $500....THANK U!

Okay, so you mean to tell me that the laptop still will not boot even after it has had plenty of time to dry? It seriously sounds like you shorted something, and no...that isn't cheap to fix. Most likely, you're looking at a motherboard replacement which will probably cost more than $500 unless you find spare parts on eBay.

What exactly does it do? If anything?

um depends on what the water damaged. most likely the motherboard which is usually hard to get and often expensive if you buy off HP. try searching the HP parts store or googling it.

I hope you brother has deep pockets. Repairing that system will not be cheap. As others have mentioned, it is probably the mainboard. Best of luck if you try to fix it. Do a LOT of online searching for the parts.

I dropped an MP3 player in a hot sauna for a good 10 seconds. It stopped working for about six months. Then one day it miraculously came back to life. It's four year old and still working. Don't throw your laptop away. Wait a while. It might just work again.

    hi there,
is there any kind soul who can help me with getting my microphone jack input working as the main input to Adobe Audition 2?
I must have been messing around the audio manager and disabled the mic jack or something...now i get latency when i try to record something with adobe.
anyone out there who has a solution to this very frustrating problem?

Your better off starting a new thread. This question is completely off topic in this thread. I wish I had an answer for you. Maybe with a new thread and more descriptive title you will get your answer.
