I have an nc8430 HP laptop.
On Friday a hot tea accidentally spilled over the laptop LCD.

Laptop works ok and I clean it immediately but somehow the hot tea managed to get inside the LCD, and now seems like it is evaporating.

Here is a picture I took yesterday (stain was bigger on Friday): http://picasaweb.google.com/claudiopi/HPLCDProblem/photo#5035945421558582402

Also if I turn off the laptop I can't see the stain.

I am somehow afraid of taking it to the service (only a couple of laptop services here in Uruguay) since I think cleaning this involves disassembling the whole laptop.

Anyone else had a similar problem ?

Would the stain completely go away ? In that case how long can it take ? Can the LCD be damaged ?

    Thanks,
    Claudio.

It looks like evaporation, it'd be best to not use the notebook for a few days to, hopefully, air out the panel without causing damage to the LCD.

It will be better to send to a servicing center, incase the LCD component gets damaged.
