The Recovery Partition does load from Bios. But right after the 'aurora'ish screen showed up, came some error messages regarding missing files. What to do?

PS : It s*cks that I can't use Hiren on these NB! Would like to try to 'Ghost' Recovery Partition from another NB, but Hiren always gave me errors on the drivers of the external optical drive... =(

It's probably errors loading drivers, Hiren's kinda sucks on any newer system. Just get a legit copy of Acronis for ghosting, it's pretty amazing how many chipsets and configurations it supports.

Alternatively, just throw the drive into a desktop temporarily and clone on that. Laptop SATA drives have identical connections to those of desktop SATA drives, so you can drop right in.

Without seeing the drive's original configuration, it's unfortunately hard for me to tell you what partition the recovery partition is supposed to be (as it's going to be a pointer to that in the BIOS)

My question is, what good is a recovery partition if a clean load is much better anyway and you have the knowledge to do one? Just make your own "recovery" system by imaging your drive once you have the system loaded and optimized.

Yeah, I do prefer 'Ghost'ed to the original ones. But now I'm stuck on XP with it; and can't call the Vista back, to create my own recovery. I've tried Ghost 2003 on my friend HP 2133. But instead getting a working recovery image, the soft had crushed the OS (Ghost asked for a restart to complete the progress, but we couldn't even pass the BIOS after that!) and we had to rescue the NB that was supposed to rescue mine...

You can re-install Vista with any OEM disc and the license key on the bottom of your computer.
