I have installed validity sensor driver on my hp elitebook 8440w.
However i am wondering if I can use fingerprint device without installing HP application.

FYI, I could see the device in my device manager.

As far as I know, there's a driver for it, but you still need to use HP ProtectTool package.

With Windows 7, the fingerprint reader should be recognised by Windows Update, from which you can obtain the software suite from the fingerprint reader vendor which you can use to register as a biometric credential without installing HP ProtectTools.

hi, is your biometric device "Validity Sensor" ?
My laptop has Validity sensor but I cannot use this because I cannot find the device in control panel
