Hi there, finally i've decided to post this crude trick on how i managed to overvolt HD6770M with 12 Series Catalyst driver.(probably will work on any other AMD Mobility GPUs too.. who knows)

I'm not responsible for any failure or mishaps happen before/between/after this trick.
What u gonna need:
- Leshcat 12.2 UnifL UP5 - Catalyst 12.2 UnifL UP5 for Switchable Graphics
- Latest version of MSI Afterburner - MSI Afterburner
- Fixed graphic switching.
1. Install Leshcat 12.2 UP5.
2. Enable Extended Overclocking in MSI Afterburner. Just type " C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner\MSIAfterburner.exe /xcl" in Run box and reboot your machine when a message appear. (I assumed u're using default installation path and 64bit window.
3. After reboot, open CCC and Agree AMD Overdrive EULA and you will see Overdrive page but it's not working... yet.
4. Now create a new preset.. name it Overvolt(or anything u liek) and assign a hotkey for quick on the fly change.
5. After that go to " C:\User\[user]\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles\ " and open the profile you just created with Notepad. (Overvolt.xml)
6. Replace the content of the XML with this. (This is my setting, you can change to suit laptop)
7. Right click on CCC icon in Traybar and Invoke/Load the preset like in image below.

8. Use GPU Caps Viewer to check the voltage and clocks. Just run one of the OpenGL/OpenCL test.![]()
Attention:
You can only use the XML file to change clock and voltage value. If u use 3rd party apps like Afterburner and Trixx to overclock, it will reset the voltage back to 1.050.

thanks a lot for sharing this. +1 rep for you.
you've mentioned GPU Caps Viewer; is there a big difference between that and, say, GPU-Z? -
Thanks.
Actually any GPU monitoring program will do but i prefer GPU Cap Viewer and GPU-Z show wrong memory clock for this gpu.

Nice. But what aboult undervolting? When I try to undervolt and stress with FurMark, it always jumps back to 1.05v.
OT: Did you actually manage to perform the 7900 mod? I can't seem to do it myself. -
Ready made from Benchmark3d.com. I didn't mod it.
-
Hmm...I tried doing it myself and using the ready-made driver. Failed twice
Anyway, does switchable graphics still work properly with the modded driver? -
How you install it?
I simply overwrite Leshcat 12.2 UP5 and everything works like normal.
You can't undervolt 3D mode clock and Idle clock.. you can only undervolt 2D clock. -
How I installed: HP Driver (8.82.2.3000)-> Whatever driver performs best on Benchmark3d -> Modded driver.
I never gave Leshcat drivers a try. Will do though, after my Samsung 830 arrives
Too bad you can't undervolt in 3D mode. I'm not too fond of OCing, but a few degrees cooler when playing Skyrim is always a welcome change. -
After I install AMD Overdrive and reboot, it doesn't show up in CCC panel.
-
You don't need to install AMD Overdrive.. just install any Catalyst 12 and enable XCL with MSI Afterburner.

This trick worked on my old HP TM2 laptop with HD 5450.
Does not work on the HP Envy 17 with HD 7850M though: probably due to lack of "Fixed switching". HP doesn't let you disable Dynamic switching on the new Envy... at least not yet. -
Hi,
thanks for your post, very interesting!
Question regarding MSI Afterburner: What message do you mean when you say "reboot when a message appears" --> My message is that the the graphic card is not supported by Afterburner.
Why do I have to install Afterburner for overvolting? -
This message..
What GPU? -
I don't have the Fan Slider.......Does the AMD Radeon HD 6490M have a seperate fan for the GPU? I'm a NewB...Please HELP!
