I've posted about this before too, and here I'm having this problem yet again.
I did a minimal system restore. So I have a machine with stock HP drivers. I want to update to 11.9 drivers. So I express uninstall AMD drivers from the control panel. Then I restart. Then I install the 11.9 package, BUT, it refused to install the drivers! It says installation complete but it ONLY installs some other components and NOT the driver.

What is the correct procedure?! I'm SO frustrated.

u uninstalled HP Driver before u install 11.9? you should install 11.9 over HP driver.

did you try version other than 11.9? from where u downlodeded the driver?

Hey cyanide, you should follow the instructions provided by Kharn in this thread:

If you've installed the bios update, you need to make sure you're running on the dedicated card when you install the new drivers.

It's always complicated to update video drivers for laptops. The issue is not restricted to AMD. You're really supposed to use the laptop maker's releases, but that's not always reasonable since they rarely update them.

First, update the HP AMD package drivers, then download the driver you are going to install and do a custom installation and only install the AMD Driver nothing else like don't install the CCC, etc.(one other option will be selected that cannot be unselected and that's fine).

That should do it. I would suggest if you are going to update to a new one uninstall everything and do it again.

    Hope this helps

    My 11.00 works all right.

Just install it over the HP driver.

I've fudged up my drivers before. IIRC what worked is to uninstall both the Intel and AMD drivers, then restart and allow Windows to install its own drivers (these don't work with switchable). Then, install HP's AMD drivers (this includes the Intel drivers, don't worry about installing those). Then, restart and install 11.10 over your current drivers.
