    Good morning.

    How can I mute the speaker when my earphone is plugged in?

    It's a Compaq C767 and running XP on it.

    The speakers should automatically "mute"(actually shut off) when your earphones are plugged in. Make sure that they are pushed in completely.

    Make sure you have downloaded and installed the most recent(And Correct) audio driver. I used a generic Microsoft driver at one point and would have this issue.
