I just bought a refurbed Presario v6000 with xp. The sound driver is conextant high definition audio.

My problem is that when I run windows media player, the sound device gets turned off. I look in control panel and it says 'no sound device'. I reboot, and there's my conextant device again.

I went onto the HP support site and downloaded the very latest driver. The problem still exists. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.
