Hi to everybody here, and thanks for making this place a guide for us all before buying new laptops.
I have a major confusion that I couldn't solve as I'm comparing three different models, you might be more able to do that comparison than me. I'm planning to buy a new laptop and I need it to be the most powerful regarding performance as I'm planning to use it for video editing and also basic everyday tasks. Mobility isn't a big concern though I prefer it to be as light as possible.
    I'm confused between three models:
1- HP DV7t 1070ee (mainly becoming difficult to get now due maybe to discontinuity of production)
    2- HP DV5t 1199ee ( afraid of the bronze color  )
    3- HP HDX16-1050ee

    the specifications are:

I guess many of you already know those models, I'm just confused regarding the three CPUs which is the best:
    T9400 vs T8400
    and displays

guys, what do you think? why would you pick a model over another, and in conclusion for which model I should go if I need the best of the best..

    Thanks
    Dan

P8400 Use's less power as a processor, but the T9400 is a faster processor with a higher L2 cache... However the main buying factor between the lot of em should be what are you planning on using the laptop for??
If it is for gaming The p8400 and the t9400 won't have much difference unless you're into RTS games, Supreme commander would have a harder time on the p8400 then on the t9400. However In fps's there would not be any significant difference between the two as fps's tend to be bottlenecked by the videocard more often then not..

as for display's it really goes down to personal preference.. My DV5t is running happily with a 1280 x 800 display, I do not see the need for anything higher. But Since it has a blu-ray drive if you plan on watching movies you will not see the full potential of blu-ray as it runs natively at 1920 x 1080, however if I was to watch blu-ray movies I would want it to be on something bigger so externalling it to a >32" lcd/plasma is better for the movie experience.

If the laptop is going to be used in video/audio processing then a T9400 shows significant improvements over the p8400 (means it should encode things quicker).
Personally I would go for the dv7T but then again I am interested in gaming, and personally like the best of the best, as It has a faster processor than the hdx16, bigger higher res screen than the dv5t and double the hdd space..

but the thing is that with you buying one of these laptop's It should be about what you plan on using it for (in the present and the future) e.g. games, video encoding, photoshopping or general home usage (web, homework, etc..)
vs the price point.. If you only plan on using it for home usage with mild-moderate gaming (as in you want to play the game not worry about graphical looks etc..) then go for the cheapest of the lot (they should all be able to play all current games at least on medium) and should be able to play future games for the next 3 years or so..

umm.. yeah I have rambled long enough for now
