    Hi nc8430 users,

I'm running NHC on it to calm down the fan but was wondering which BIOS version do you guys use?

I can't find the ACPI files for bios higher than F.10
Does anyone have the ACPI config files for more recent BIOS?

Also, did any of you switch to Vista? Does NHC work there or does Vista mean earplugs because of the fan?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,

I'm running the latest F.15 bios on my nc8430 and using the ACPI supplied default with NHC 2.0 Pre-Release 06.

This combination is running perfectlly when running XP.

Sadly this does not apply for Vista (32 bit) and Windows 2008 Server. The ACPI features of NHC doesn't work and even caused a few Bluscreens :(

And, yes the fan still runs like hell on Vista and Win 2008 server, so earplugs still needed.

If anyone manages to make NHC ACPI run on Nc8430/Vista I'm very interested

Just curious, what are your temps with the fan speed reduced? I typically idle around 50C or so according to HWMonitor with the stock fan speeds (the fan really doesn't bother me at all).

Mine is at 65C when idle, 72C when working, and sometimes reaches 83C when working hard.
    Those are NHC temps.
