What is the quality of the 1080p screen like? What color gamut?

The newer DV6s are using a LG screen with a *manufacturer quoted* 60% color gamut, 600:1 contrast, 300 nit brightness.

    Full specs here.

Thanks, that looks awesome. So how does that translate to an end product? Good color representation, brightness, oversaturation? Any complaints of light bleed?

No idea, only a handful of people have them so far. There doesn't seem to be any glaring problems though. :p

Check the order status discussion thread for some pics/impressions.

Having just gotten my machine yesterday, I can tell you that the screen is phenomenal. I haven't noticed any oversaturation, nor any light bleed whatsoever. I haven't confirmed that mine is one of the new LG panels, but I believe it is.

Good to hear thanks. Now if only there were more coupons available 30% or $400+. The current one is no longer valid. :(

Still the dv6 FHD screen is way way behind Dell XPS FHD screen.

IF Dell had a similarly equipped laptop for same price I'd probably consider it, but they don't.

    It is not way behind.
I actually prefer the hp bc it has the matte.
Xps has 95% color gamut comPared to 60 but. Most peEople can't distinguish beyond 72

agreed-matte rocks! I had the 6100 with the matte HD screen--twas awesome. I sit here now with my 32" matte monitor, and it too, is nice because it's matte.

I would take a matte screen 9 times out of 10 over a glossy screen, even the Dell XPS 15's higher gamut screen.
