I have the 12 cell battery. I will try to answer any of your questions. I wish I had a digital camera. :p

I would say the battery the sticks out from the bottom around 3/4 inches height and 1/2 inches length. It hasn't annoyed me yet. In fact I like getting double the battery life. Instead of 2 1/2 hrs I get around 5hrs. That is pretty nice since I have 15.4in screen on my Compaq v4000t.

It does add some more weight. What kind of laptop were you thinking of getting? How often will you be carrying it around?

I personally only carry my laptop around my house right now. I got it for school so I am sure I will bring it to class. I would say the battery probably weighs about a 1lb extra. But if you really want more battery life I would definately go ahead and get the 12 cell.

    Hope this helps,
    Tim

I also have the 12 cell battery. I happen to really like it. Doesn't add that much in size, but adds tremendously to battery life. I fully charged my dv1000t when I first got it (14" screen), then allowed the battery to fully discharge (I had read it is a good idea to do this the first time you use the battery to condition them)

I got over seven hours of battery life!

As for weight, the 6 cell battery weights 0.69 lb, the 12 cell weights 1.25 lb, so you're adding about half a lb. in additional weight.

The 12 cell does lift up the computer, which I find nice when it's on a desk, as it raises (slightly) the hight of the screen. If you use your laptop on your lap alot (I don't), it may be a problem, because the battery doesn't go fully across the entire width of the computer.

wow, without fail i get extremely helpful answers. I figured it would be more of a problem but obviously not, and 2x the battery life is nice. I think im going to get the dv5000z, v3000, or dv2000. Most likely the latter 2. Thank you much!
