Hi All,
First post here... ordered a HDX 16T when it was on discount for the 850 for 1920x1200 screen, 7450 2.1 ghz process, 4 gig ram, geforce 130M GT card.
Now the I7 dv6t is there with the 230M GT, no backlit keyboard or blueray or HD screen but...
For video gaming will the 230GT be a huge improvement?
What would you guys do? Opinions?
I can get the dv6t with 25% back by 12 midnight (<3 hours) for 897 so only 50$ more.

Well there doesn't seem to be a HUGE jump between the two. Based on notebookcheck's list...here are the differences...
One bad thing is you lose the HD reion for a 1366x768 which would be good for gaming. At least that's a lower native resolution.
If you still want the HD resolution and want a newer graphics card, why not go with the new dv8t? At least you can use the 25% Cashback from Bing on that, right?
With the FREE upgrades and base model, it'll be like $975 without tax for the dv8t and you get the Core i7. But this is only if they also include the $200 instant rebate + 25% Bing Cashback. -
I don't want a screen > 16" the 18 is too massive for me.
I've read online the 230M GT has significant boost to performance, that's my worry.
I don't want to be crippled by an inferior video card + inferior CPU.

Well I guess the dv6t would be you're best bet albiet the smaller resolution. The 16 extra pipelines on the 230m GT does help. If that's the case, then go for it if you don't mind the lower resolution.

Well I just ordered it, figured I'll return the one I don't want honestly.

I had the same exact conflict today.
I had ordered my HDX16T two days ago, and just noticed today, the new DV6T Quad edition. My HDX16T was configured with 1080p screen, 2.2 ghz dual core, geforce gt 130m, and 4gb ddr2 memory.
In the end, I decided to cancel my HDX16t and order the DV6t quad core edition at roughly the same price. It took alot for me to want to give up the 1080p screen, but EVERY other performance oriented spec on the quad edition outperforms the HDX.
The 4gb of memory in the quad edition is ddr3 instead of ddr2 in the HDX. The graphics card is slightly more powerful, and the 1.6 ghz quad core processor has "turbo boost technology" that allows it to push all it's cores to a maximum out of 2.8ghz.....with faster front side bus than the 2.2 ghz dual processor I had in the HDX.
The other two selling points for me, were that Windows 7 would be pre-installed, and it's almost a pound lighter. Still wish it had a 1080p screen. -
Man, I'm in the same boat. I just looked at this deal on the quad and I got every option you can get on the HDXt and my laptop is suppose to come in this week. However, the dv6t laptop has a better I7 Quad processor, better memory, and "slightly" better graphics card. This would cost me about $45 more or so. BUt, worth every dollar. I do like the HDX and the way it looks, and the 1080p screen however, it is not led lit like the dv6t. It may not be anything but I like the option of having a modem...JUST to use to fax! The hdx16t does not have a modem port. I think this is a better deal even though the laptop is uglier than the hdx16t... I would get the dv6t just because of the higher front side bus from the processor and the memory.
130M Gt HDX16T vs DV6T 230M GT, quick response needed
